To celebrate April Fools' Day, we posed a question to our OurPass community, asking tribe members to share the worst April Fools’ pranks they’ve experienced. We received tons of hilarious responses but here are the very best.

AYODEJI
It was during my remedial year in school. I had written JAMB and was looking forward to the results which I was to receive via text message. Unknown to me, a friend of mine had picked up my phone and changed their contact name to JAMB. The ‘JAMB result’ message came in and stated that I had gotten 100.
I was NOT okay.
Amid my despair, my friend showed up to laugh at me, announcing that it was an April Fools' joke.

AISHA
This was more than an April Fools' prank. It played out to be ‘a-few-months-fools'-prank’.
I was about 8 then. I lived for fairy tales and was too deep into the Barbie/Disney world. So, my cousin decided to play on my fantasies.
One day, he told me how he had certain special powers and could visit Peter Pan in Neverland. He declared that he flew with Wendy, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys. I gobbled it all. I asked if he could take me to Neverland. He told me I had to be initiated into the group and it would take a while, but I’d have to do everything he asked of me. Of course, I agreed.

It was during the holidays and my dear cousin turned me into his slave. He would ask for portions of my food and make me do things to just make life breezy for him.
Weeks passed, and my brothers –seeing this– advised that he was only playing on my intelligence. But adamant me that wanted to fly to Neverland by force continued to give out my food portions and slave away.
It took months of unfulfilled promises for me to eventually snap out of it.

ABRAHAM
I think I was around 14 years old when our family friend, “Shola,” played an April fools' prank on us. He called us and asked if he could visit for the weekend. We told him, of course, and immediately went to work cleaning the house. We spent hours cleaning everything up and preparing a lovely dinner. We were ready for Shola to arrive at any minute… except he never showed up! He called us to say that it was an April Fools’ joke.
Ha. Ha. Very funny.

NIMI
I received a call, the caller ID showed an unknown number and the voice on the other end sounded mature. "Hi, this is Mr Charles from your bank!" I heard. "We're contacting you because we've detected some fraudulent transactions on your account. Please provide us with your account and card details"
I already thought the person was trying to scam me and I was about to insult the person when my younger brother confessed he was the one.
He put up a very convincing accent and I totally bought it.

EMMANUEL
My best friend once told me that she was pregnant. I was shocked because we were both quite young, but it’s not like I didn’t believe her. She started crying, telling me that it was the worst thing that could happen to her. I tried to console her, but she kept repeating that she didn’t know what she was going to do.
I tried to remain calm and offer her solutions, only for her to say that it was an April Fools' joke.
